As discussed on this site, there have been many types of bicycle accidents that have happened in Chicago and elsewhere within the Chicago metropolitan area. There are many reason for these bicycle accidents, with some appearing to be the fault of the motorist, and some being the fault of the bicyclist. Some of these bicycle accidents have proven to be fatal.
There was a bicycle accident on Monday (June 27, 2016) in Arlington Heights in which a female bicyclist suffered accident injuries which appeared to be non-life-threatening in nature. The accident appears to be what some would call a “left-hook” bicycle accident.
The accident happened near the intersection of Northwest Highway and Highland Avenue, which is depicted below:
The accident is discussed in the June 27, 2016 Daily Herald article titled “Bicyclist injured after being hit by vehicle in Arlington Heights.” An excerpt:
The bicyclist appeared to be traveling westbound in a cross walk just after 7 a.m. when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle attempting a left turn, according to Arlington Heights police.
Additional details and possible updates can be seen in a variety of media sources, including the Daily Herald article mentioned above.
