Fatal Des Plaines Pedestrian Accident

A woman has died following a pedestrian accident Monday afternoon (March 14, 2016) in Des Plaines.

According to the Des Plaines Police Department, Des Plaines Police responded to the pedestrian accident at approximately 4:30 p.m.  The accident involved a vehicle hitting a woman who was attempting to walk across the street at Touhy Avenue and Maple Street.  As she attempted to do so, she was struck by a westbound vehicle.  At the time of the accident, the woman was walking outside of a marked crosswalk.

The woman was identified as Angie Marines, 79, of Des Plaines.  According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, she was declared dead at 5:11 p.m., at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

An excerpt from the Chicago Tribune article of March 15, 2016, titled “Woman in her 70s killed while crossing street in Des Plaines“:

Marines died from multiple blunt-force injuries from a motor vehicle hitting her, the office determined after an examination Tuesday.

This fatal pedestrian accident remains under investigation.
