There was a Chicago bicycle accident Wednesday (January 7, 2015) that involved a bicyclist getting struck by a pickup truck and then being pinned beneath the truck. The collision happened as the pickup truck was making a turn.
The accident is described in the CBS Chicago article of January 7, 2015 titled “Good Samaritan Rescues Bicyclist Pinned Under Truck.”
This is yet another example of a bicycle accident that happens when a motorist is making a turn. Many motorcycle and bicycle accidents happen when a vehicle is making a turn and strikes the bicycle or motorcycle because the motorist “fails to see” the bicyclist or motorcyclist.
Research as to why motorists “fail to see” motorcycles is featured in the Chicago Motorcycle Accident Lawyer Blog post of February 22, 2014 titled “Research As To Why Motorists Fail To See Motorcyclists.”
