SUV Collides With CTA Bus On Chicago’s South Side

There was a “head-on collision” today (April 28, 2014) involving a CTA bus and SUV in Chicago’s Gage Park neighborhood.

This collision happened shortly before 10 a.m. as the Route 49 CTA bus was northbound on South Western Avenue, and it collided with a large SUV near West 50th Street.

An excerpt from the NBC Chicago article of April 28, 2014 titled “15 People, Including 2 Kids, Injured In Head-on Crash Involving CTA Bus” :

Witnesses told investigators the bus blew the horn, but the SUV drifted into oncoming traffic and made impact, Langford said.


As a result of the accident, 15 people were injured and taken to hospitals.

According to the Chicago Fire Department, the woman driving the SUV was pinned inside the vehicle, and later taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition.
