“Wrong-way drivers” pose a particularly dangerous traffic hazard, and unfortunately have been numerous such incidents in the Chicagoland metropolitan area over the last few years. Many of these incidents involve the “wrong-way driver” crashing the vehicle, and in many cases innocent 3rd party drivers are seriously injured, or in some cases, killed.
There was another “wrong-way driver” early this morning (March 20, 2014) on the Edens Expressway. The driver was arrested and charged with a DUI.
This “wrong-way driver” was involved in a car accident at approximately 2:05 a.m. as she was driving southbound on the Edens (I-94). In the course of the accident, her car got “turned around” and was facing north. She then began driving northbound in the southbound lanes. According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) she drove in the wrong direction between Willow and Old Orchard Roads, but then turned around and was driving in the right direction.
When she exited at Old Orchard Road at approximately 2:30 a.m., she was stopped by Skokie Police.
