There was a fatal car accident on the inbound Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) early Sunday morning (January 12, 2014) in Forest Park.
According to the Illinois State Police (ISP) the car collision happened at approximately 3:45 a.m., when a minivan stalled in the center lane near the First Avenue exit. Then, the rear of the minivan was hit (i.e. “rear-ended) by a SUV.
Two occupants of the minivan were killed during the accident. They have been identified as the minivan’s driver, Evelette Rivera, 30, of Chicago, and Crystal Hernandez, 29, of Chicago.
Another passenger in the minivan, as well as the driver of the SUV, were injured and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Illinois State police said the two survivors of this car accident were wearing seatbelts, whereas the two women killed were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The accident remains under investigation.
