There was a fatal Chicago car accident on the Dan Ryan Expressway on Sunday, December 22, 2013.
According to the Illinois State Police, the fatal car accident happened when a Ford Expedition, for an unknown reason, veered from the middle lane to the far right lane of the Dan Ryan Expressway near 87th Street. The SUV then hit the guardrail twice.
During the impact, the Expedition’s rear window was shattered, and a boy who was riding in the Expedition was ejected from the SUV. The boy, identified as Franklin Leon Jackson Jr., 4, of League City, Texas, was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, he was pronounced dead at 5:25 p.m.
Other occupants in the SUV at the time of the accident were a 1-year-old boy, a 2-year-old boy, a 3-month-old girl and a 23-year-old woman. According to the Illinois State Police, they all were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
