Fatal Pedestrian Accident In Chicago’s West Loop

There was a fatal pedestrian accident in Chicago’s West Loop today, involving a woman who was struck by a truck.

Details on the accident are somewhat limited.

The victim, who died at the accident scene, was identified as Catherine Cong Ye, 24, of State College, PA.

The accident happened near Halsted and Randolph Streets.


An excerpt from the ABC7Chicago.com article on the accident, titled “Pedestrian hit, killed by truck in West Loop” :

About 8:30, Ye was about to cross Randolph toward the Loop when the tanker’s ladder hit her. She was pulled underneath as the semi had just exited off the expressway.

The driver of the tanker truck was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.

The accident remains under investigation.
