On Wednesday, Megabus agreed to settle a wrongful death lawsuit involving a pedestrian who was fatally struck by a Megabus in downtown Chicago in 2010.
The man killed in that accident, Wes Krueger, 64, was walking west on Adams Street and was walking in a crosswalk across Des Plaines on February 23, 2010, when he was struck by a Megabus and dragged 30 feet. Krueger later died from his injuries sustained in the accident.
The driver of the bus, Shervyle Pruitt, of Sauk Village, was cited for reckless driving and striking a pedestrian in the crosswalk who had the right of way. Pruitt is said to have simply not seen Krueger in the crosswalk.
The lawsuit was filed by Krueger’s wife, Linda, in March 2010, stating, in part, that Pruitt failed to yield the right of way, obey traffic signals and slow down to avoid hitting a pedestrian.
