Wrongful Death Lawsuit Filed In Northbrook, Illinois Bridge Collapse

A judge has ordered the cleanup of the bridge collapse on Shermer Road in Northbrook, Illinois to be halted.

This halt was done at the request of the victims’ lawyers, in hopes of preserving evidence.

Burton and Zorine Lindner are the couple that were discovered killed during the bridge collapse. The Lindners were killed when rubble from a freight train derailment and bridge collapse on Shermer Road in Northbrook crushed their black Lexus on Wednesday; there bodies were not discovered until Thursday.

A wrongful death lawsuit was filed today. The lawsuit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, claims, among other matters, that Union Pacific was negligent by not keeping the railroad tracks and viaduct safe.

The accident remains under investigation by the Union Pacific and the Federal Railroad Administration.
