Bicyclist Killed After Collision With Truck In Chicago’s Chatham Neighborhood

A bicyclist died on Thursday night after a collision with an ice cream truck in Chicago’s South Side Chatham neighborhood.

The bicyclist, Caprice Cunningham, 23, was hit about 8:40 p.m., according to Chicago Police.

At the time of the accident, she was riding a 10-speed easbound on 87th Street and crossing in front of oncoming traffic. She collided with the driver’s side of the ice cream truck, a 1964 Ford.

The driver of the truck, identified as a 29-year-old woman, immediately pulled over and stayed at the accident scene.


According to Chicago Police, the ice cream truck’s driver was issued four citations, including: driving with a license that is suspended or revoked; driving without proof of insurance; driving without the proper vehicle driver’s classification; and various truck safety violations.

The accident remains under investigation.
