Early this morning, a fatal car accident occurred on Chicago’s South Side in the Bronzeville neighborhood.
According to authorities, the accident happened around 3:30 a.m. and involved a single pickup truck in the 400 block of East Pershing Road.
The driver, aged 42, was apparently speeding east on Pershing when he crashed into a light pole. The resulting impact then threw the truck into another light pole. The pickup truck was demolished, as seen in photos of the accident scene.
Factors said to have possibly contributed to the accident were that unconfirmed reports had the truck driving as fast as 100 mph; as well, the street was supposed to be wet due to rainfall.
The driver died at the accident scene.
