Woman Killed In Chicago After Car Collides With Chicago Police Car

A woman was killed in Chicago last night when a vehicle driven by her daughter ran a red light and struck a Chicago Police car. The two police officers sustained minor injuries.

The accident happened in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood (West Side) at approximately 8:00 p.m. at the intersection of Madison and Central.

According to the Cook County medical examiner’s office, the woman killed has been identified as Geanne Ortega, 55. Ortega lived on North Nordica Avenue.

Both mother and daughter were both taken to Stroger Hospital, where Geanne Ortega was pronounced dead at 11:34 p.m.

Jessica Ortega received non-serious injuries. She has received several citations, including: disobeying the red light, having expired plates, not having a driver’s license, and not having insurance.

According to Chicago Police, the two Chicago Police officers were taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park. They were treated for minor injuries.
