19-Vehicle Accident On I-57 Near Peotone

On Thursday afternoon (February 20, 2014) there was a large multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 57 (I-57) near Peotone that involved at least 19 vehicles, including seven semi trucks and 12 other vehicles.

According to the Illinois State Police (ISP), ten people suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospitals.

This accident happened at approximately 4:25 p.m. near Harlem Avenue in Will County. The ISP says that heavy fog contributed to this vehicle pileup.

One vehicle had to extricated as it became stuck under a truck.

This accident remains under investigation by the ISP.
