There was a fatal car accident on the Tri-State Tollway (Interstate 294) on Tuesday afternoon in Des Plaines.
Weather appears to have played a role in the accident, which happened during a period of heavy snowfall.
The man killed was Jack Edwards, 66, of Zion, Illinois.
He apparently lost control of his car while traveling northbound on I-294. The car slid into a concrete wall, and then reentered traffic and was hit by a semi truck. The accident happened a few minutes before 4:00 p.m.
Edwards was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, and was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m.
Edwards was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
